On December 11, 2011, Governor Brian Sandoval appointed Nancy Porter to fill a vacancy in the Fourth Judicial District Court, Department 1. She took office on January 13, 2012 and was then elected to the position on June 12, 2012.
Judge Porter is a native with 25 years of experience as a trial attorney. She is a graduate of Williamette University College of Law and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from the University of Nevada Reno. She was admitted to the Oregon Bar in 1987 and the Nevada Bar in 1989. In addition to her regular court duties, Judge Porter presides over the Fourth Judicial District Court's DUI Diversion Program and is a board member of the Court Improvement Program of the Supreme Court of Nevada.
